PHILOSOPHY
AFL Masters is “Footy for Fun”!
It provides the opportunity for players aged 35 years and over to enjoy the game of Aussie Rules
Football in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Matches are played to a national standardised set of
modified rules that have been designed to reduce the risks of injury.
Training sessions are usually held on Wednesday evenings from mid-February through to early
September, with matches typically played every second Sunday afternoon during the season.
Athelstone first joined the AFL Masters SA competition in the 2019 season, and has always welcomed
players of all skill levels and experience.
